This is the NBA (National Basketball Association) logo.

Shape and layout: The logo is a tall, vertical rectangle with rounded corners, set against a white background with a thin white margin around it.

Colors: The rectangle is split down the middle into two colors. The left half is a deep royal blue, and the right half is a bold crimson red.

The silhouette: A white silhouette of a basketball player in mid-dribble is centered on the split. The player leans slightly forward with the head tilted up. One arm reaches out to the right, with a round white basketball at the end of it near the middle of the right side. The other arm is bent close to the body. The legs are in a striding, dynamic stance, and the figure runs nearly the full height of the logo.

Text: The letters “NBA” appear in white, bold, condensed block capitals at the bottom left, on the blue side. They sit below the player’s hip and are stacked tightly together.

The design is clean, high-contrast, and instantly recognizable. Its simple color blocking and single-figure silhouette convey motion and athleticism, which is why it has become one of the most iconic sports logos in the world.

The NBA, or National Basketball Association, is the top professional men’s basketball league in North America and is widely considered the best in the world. It is headquartered in New York City and led by Commissioner Adam Silver, who took over in 2014.

The league was founded in 1946 as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It took the name NBA in 1949 after merging with a rival league, the National Basketball League.

Beyond the main league, the NBA operates the WNBA (the women’s professional league) and the NBA G League, its official minor league. The NBA has also grown into a global brand. Its rosters include players from dozens of countries, and its games are broadcast worldwide. That global reach helped make stars like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry famous well beyond the United States.
